Hello Friends of Past Life,
Many of you may have stopped by the shop this week only to find a closed sign on the door. I just wanted to thank you all for your patience and to let you know that I will be opening again soon.
My Mom, Rose, who is the inspiration for Past Life and who taught me everything I know about being crafty, creative, daring and independent, passed away peacefully Friday afternoon surrounded by her kids. I closed the store so that I could be with her during her final days.
My Mom was the most creative person I know. She taught me to sew when I was only 5 or 6. We’d spend hours together in her workshop; she’d be working on her latest project and I’d make clothes for my dolls and stuffed animals. Our home was always decorated for the seasons and everything was beautifully displayed. Past Life is the result of growing up in a home that was a cross between a country store and a museum, but somehow was always cozy and inviting. I learned the art of design just by watching my Mom find the perfect spot for her latest teapot purchase.
Past Life would not exist if it wasn’t for my Mom. She was my teacher, my mentor, my biggest supporter, and my best friend. I am so grateful that she got to see her influence on me come to life in the shop.
